Default Guild Wars on Mac

I'm looking to buy a Mac (I think). Is there anyone here that plays guild wars on a mac successfully? (whether through Dual OS, Parallel, or w/e). If you do, could you say what system you are running and how the game plays?

Thanks a lot

Default boot camp!

Hi, I play GW on my 2ghz macbook succesfully. I have 2 gig of ram and am running xp under boot camp. Using Bootcamp I made a small partition of 10 gig on my hard disk to run windows exlusivly of osx. I have a heavy duty pc and whilst GW runs better on that I really have no complaints with the mac apart from the cpu whine when it gets hot. Fram rates are high and the graphics/particle effects/lighting etc all look like GW should. System memory is shared with the video memory on a Macbook but GW is not WOW and has no complaints. A note to all windows users (like myself) : XP installs embarasingly easily on a mac as the osx cd comes with all the drivers. No conflicts, took an hour in total. good luck!

If you use Boot Camp to help you install Windows XP, you run it natively so after that it depends on your computer specs meeting/beating the recommended requirements.

First off, get the Mac - it's awesome. I play Guild Wars through Boot Camp (XP) and it runs pretty sweetly, no problems at all.
Specs - 2.16ghz dual core ,2gb ram, x1600 video card.

Yes it is easy to install, and the drivers are there just like h00per said - I put a 15gb partition for Windows... but I personally run Guild Wars off of my external hard-drive, using Portable GW. That works well too.

Good luck with a sexy leopard on your desk

edit- Macs run XP better than PCs

Thumbs up

Yep, Guild Wars runs great on the Windows XP partition of my 4GB MacBook Pro. For me, it's visually superior with that glossy widescreen.

The only reason I don't game on the MacBook Pro regularly is because of the heat and because my wrists are always disturbing the (touchpad) mouse. On a Mac desktop with an adequate amount of RAM there should be no problem. Setup was easy, info all over the 'net on how to do it.

There is a freeware Mac utility that makes it easier to choose your OS on startup; you don't have to remember to hold down the option key when you power on. Check out rEFIt (http://refit.sourceforge.net/).

Boot Camp is free (get it from the Apple website), Windows XP will probably be hard to find, as they (Microsoft) are phasing out support for it.

I play GW on my Mac. Since you asked – my Mac is a Mac Pro that I use mostly for graphic design work, and has two 3ghz dual-core cpus, 4gb memory, and I run OSX 10.5 side by side Vista w/ boot camp.

I am sure you'll like Windows XP more than Vista. I have strange internet problems on Vista that I never had with Windows XP and I don't have with OSX. I used to be all about Windows in general, but now I prefer working with Mac OSX. The only thing I would like to see is a more up to date selection of graphics cards, although the 7300GT that I have in this Mac Pro is decent.

May I make these buying suggestions:
• WinXP instead of Vista
• Get a more normal mouse if at least for gaming.

I'd highly recommend getting a Mac, because I know you'll be happy with it.
